Silence

SUMANA SAHA

Silence, a brief seven letter word

Has a wide range of interpretations

From morning to night, life to death,

Beginning to ending, observation to intellectuality.

Science, Education, Learning, Meditation,

Medication, Nature, Aesthetics and what not!

From paving the way to innovation and invention,

It mercilessly imparts lifelessness,

A wonderful form of communication,

Messages and gestures which inanimate structures convey,

Again a belief that leads to divine grace.

Silence doesn’t always mean ‘yes’; it sometimes means

That I’m tired of explaining

To people who don’t even care to understand.

Sometimes not saying anything is the best answer;

You see silence can never be misquoted.

My silence means I’d rather talk to myself than to u.

Silence is true wisdom’s best reply

And the best friend that never betrays.
